For more than thirty years, C. Emmitt Woodey has worked in all
levels of theatre and has directed over 50 productions. He was Technical
Director/Lighting Designer at University of Maryland College Park,
where his lighting and set designs won several awards from the American
College Theatre Festival. As Technical Director of the Fine Arts
Center of Charles County Community College, now College of Southern
Maryland, he has designed The King and I, The Sound of Music, Six
Characters in Search of An Author, Brigadoon and many others. He
has also directed several shows here including Guys and Dolls, The Wizard
of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar and others. He
recently received a Governor's Citation for participating in the
Theatre Arts Task Force. In his "spare" time, he does
freelance work in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, Washington D.C.
and of course Maryland.
Emmitt is currently the Technical Director of the Theatre at the
College of Southern Maryland where he teaches several courses.
